About Us

Home inspectors before the 70's were
unspecialized people in the related
home building trades.

As federal home loan programs expanded,
private groups organized to establish
standards and ethics of home inspectors.

Due to greater demand of federal and
comercial loan inspection needs at the turn
of the century, the State of Illinois
started a testing and licensing requirement.

Today with 85% of homes sold today being
inspected, lenders, attorneys, and real estate
agents have sought for assurance an inspector's
competence before referring them to you.

NACHI (National Association of Certified Home
Inspectors) offers that assurance by certifing
licensed inspectors with the strictest
testing, experience, admission, and continuing
educational requirments.

Home Inspection Company of Ilinois was
organized by Steven Boyd to offer buyers
and sellers a higher level of quality with
convenience, certified, and swift service.

Steven Boyd after working his way through
college working for the F.B.I.and restoring
homes in the Washington D.C.area,Steve's
expertise expanded to wooden yacht restoration
in the Chesapeak Bay area.

Moving back home to Illinois, his skilled
carpentry, electrical and structural expertise
have benefited many homes and yachts in the
Chicagoland area.

Organizing Home Inspection Company of
Illinois was a natural evolution to offer
a higher number of home owners his ability
to inspect homes for quality (or lack of)
building practices.

Due to Steve's inspection experience, ethics
and education, a national independate
national board of inspectors awarded him
the highest designation of Certified
Master Inspector. Only 28 other inspectors
in the US have attained this level
( 2 others in Illinois ).

MY PROMISE TO YOU
Choosing the right home inspector can be difficult.
Unlike most professions, you will not get to meet
me until after you hire me. Furthermore, different
inspectors have varing qualifications, equipment,
experience, reporting methods, and yes, different
pricing.
One thing for sure is that a home inspection
requires work, a lot of work. Ultimately a through
inspection depends heavily on the individual
inspector's own effort.
If you honor me by permitting me to inspect your
home. I guarantee that I will give you my very
best effort.
This I promise you.

Steven Boyd
